Scout, the brewery’s mischievous German Pointer (pictured left!), became an unofficial Batemans mascot through his daily visits and daring escapes. Loved by staff and locals alike, he quickly became part of brewery life.
Batemans faced major change in the early 1970s but celebrated its centenary in 1974. Despite pressure from national brewers, its commitment to traditional ales supported its independence.
