About the head brewer's house

The Head Brewer’s House, has been the home of generations of Batemans family, brewers, coopers and boilermen who liked to live locally to the Brewery, so they could get in early for work.

The spacious house has been recently refurbished to a high cottage standard and is in the small market town of Wainfleet.

About the location

On a clear day you can see for miles, all the way to Hunstanton. Yes it’s flat, but as they say at Batemans Brewery “the countryside might be flat but the beer isn’t.”

There is a mainline railway station, but the town is away from the main A52 refreshed by the fresh sea breezes from the marsh. Wainfleet is a great place to be based to explore all the attractions in the area.

Batemans Brewery has been passed down through four generations of our family, and along with it a passion that’s never abated.

Our hard-fought independence is a wonderful thing, allowing us to continue to brew great beer and run successful pubs.

That success has never been at the expense of other people. As our grandfather, Harry Bateman, once told his fellow brewers: “In your business, don’t ever lose the human touch with your employees, customers and tenants.” These are the wise, caring words we live by.

Wainfleet is a small market town in Lincolnshire. It has great transport links. Either by car just off the A52, 5 miles from Skegness, by train on the Skegness Mainline or by bus, with the main service picking up either just over the river or in the market place, there is also a daily National Express Service from London.

There’s so much to do locally. The attractions of the tourist resort, Skegness, are only 5 miles away. Then there’s the Lincolnshire Wolds, Lincoln Cathedral, long stretches of beach, dog walks, swimming pools, golf courses, fairgrounds, country pubs, night clubs, museums, or maybe you fancy a Brewery tour!

Most of the rooms have smart flat screen TV’s which can access loads of TV shows and films on demand + YouTube.

There are books and magazines to browse and board games to play. But we think you’ll be too busy!

Well behaved pets are welcome, but we suggest you don’t take them to the local Tiger Sanctuary!
