Available in June
At Batemans Brewery, we take pride in our heritage and our commitment to crafting exceptional beers that honour our roots while embracing innovation. Our Salem Session IPA, brewed under the Salem Brew Co. label, is a shining example of this philosophy.
The name “Salem” holds a special place in our brewery’s history. In 1880, our founder, George Bateman, moved the brewery to Salem House in Wainfleet, situated near the picturesque Salem Bridge over the River Steeping. This location, with its iconic windmill, has been central to our brewing operations ever since, symbolizing our enduring dedication to quality and tradition.
A Nod to American Heritage
The name “Salem” also resonates across the Atlantic, most notably in Salem, Massachusetts, a city known for its rich history and the infamous witch trials of the 17th century. This transatlantic connection inspired us to infuse our Salem Session IPA with a blend of American hops, creating a beer that bridges our English roots with American craft beer innovation.
The Beer: Bright, Balanced, and Bursting with Flavour
Salem Session IPA is a golden, highly quaffable session beer with an ABV of 4.1%. Dry-hopped with Amarillo and Sabro hops, it offers bold citrus and stone fruit aromas, delivering a perfectly balanced bitterness that makes it an easy-drinking, hop-forward delight.
Crafted with Passion and Precision
As a fifth-generation family brewery, we at Batemans have always valued the art of brewing. Our Salem Brew Co. range, including the Salem Session IPA, reflects our dedication to creating innovative craft beers that honour our legacy while exploring new horizons.
